Walkway Map
The Walkway covers 18.5 linear miles from Bayonne to the George Washington Bridge. The Walkway design is governed by a set of standards, codified into NJ law, and can be found under Reference Documents.
Walkway Color code:
- walkway completed – thick green line
- walkway under construction – narrow green
- walkway planned – gold
- alternate route – blue
- industrial waterfront (no access) – red
We are using Google Maps as the platform for tracing the Walkway.

August 2026: From Aug 24, 2026 to Sept 30, 2026, a section of the Walkway (WW) near the Hackensack/Palisades Hospital will be rerouted. There will be signage to indicate the temporary route. It is between the Heliport and The Views at Hudson Pointe. Palisades Hospital is replacing stormwater drainage pipes that currently get backed up allowing the river to backflow into the hospital parking lot. They will be repairing cracks and areas of the WW as well. We wish they will replace the WW with a surface that is sustainable for years and save the hospital the cost of constant repairs. The WW at the hospital is also not built to specification while its neighbor The Views at Hudson Pointe is!
Nov 2024 update: The west gate to Jersey Ave is closed on weekends and non-summertime periods.
5/22/2023: The west gate to Jersey Ave is now open 24/7 at Liberty Harbor. Full access is provided from points east to Jersey Ave and Liberty State Park.

By law, the Hudson River Walkway can be accessed anywhere along its 18 mile length.
But some places are easier than others—and there is also the need of parking. For the uninitiated, here are a couple of easy access points.
- Edgewater Commons Shopping Center. 555 New River Road, Edgewater.
- Edgewater Harbor Shopping Center. 15 Somerset Lane, Edgewater. Walk south along the newest area of the Walkway.
- Port Imperial, Weehawken. 4800 Ave at Port Imperial, Weehawken. This is about mid-point on the route; walk south to the Weehawken 9/11 memorial.
- River Street, Hoboken. 333 River Street, Hoboken. Visit the parks on Pier A and C; walk south on the Walkway through Hoboken Train Station into Jersey City.
- Exchange Place, Jersey City. 10 Exchange Place, Jersey City. Best place to view the World Trade Center, also a short distance south to Veteran’s Park and the Colgate Clock.
- Liberty State Park, Jersey City. 200 Morris Pesin Drive, Jersey City, This is the place to see the New Jersey 9/11 Memorial, the Liberty Science Center, and get good views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
