Additional Q’s & A’s from the public

October 18, 2025 – Question: I am a frequent user of the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway. I absolutely love it and want to thank you for what you do. I wanted to reach out because I saw something on a section of the Walkway that I hadn’t seen before on a section of the path that I am on quite frequently. What I had seen was a No Bikes sign. Are bikes allowed on the Walkway?

HRWC Response: The sign is incorrect. Bikes are allowed on the Walkway consistent with any town ordinances. Biking safety on the Walkway for bikers and pedestrians is an important consideration, but biking is allowed along the entire Walkway

October 24, 2025 – Question: Are there any updates on Walkway access at Admiral’s Walk since the successful lawsuit a while ago? How about updates for other sites with no Walkway.

HRWC Response: Things have moved slowly at Admiral’s Walk but in a positive way. The State has provided funds to Edgewater to do the design. We hope construction of the Walkway will occur next spring.
At 615 River Road (the previous Hess Oil tank site), construction has started and the Walkway will be among the earliest parts of the construction as required by the DEP. It is not clear if a temporary Walkway will be built prior to the permanent Walkway construction.
At Riverview in North Bergen, the developer has agreed to open the property and allow a Temporary Walkway to be built. We hope it can begin construction early in 2026.
At the Quanta site in Edgewater, the US EPA has confirmed that the site is safe for pedestrians, and the Conservancy is working with the NJDEP to gain approval to build a temporary Walkway.

October 28, 2025 – Question: Can we hold a ceremony on the Walkway for a marriage proposal? Is a permit needed? Is there a cost? Can photos be taken on the Walkway?
HRWC Response: No permits are required to use the Walkway for any event celebration. There is no fee, and anyone can take photos of the event for personal use as long as you don’t obstruct others from using the Walkway.

October 31, 2025 – Question: Can bikes be ridden on the Walkway?
HRWC Response: Yes, bikes are allowed on the Walkway. Sometimes they become a problem when there is heavy pedestrian traffic so be careful when you ride.
