Jersey City – On 12/18/2025, the DEP approved WDP – 0906-13-0001.5 – LUP – 250001 for the construction of a new kayak launch ramp at the Newport Pier.

Note: The Conservancy strongly supported approval of this permit. The Conservancy has previously received requests for additional kayak launch sites along the Walkway. It is not clear when the kayak launch will be constructed.

Edgewater – On 12/23/25, the DEP approved WDP 0213-05-0003.3 – LUP – 250001 for construction of 8 mooring docks in the Hudson River at the Colony.

Note: The Conservancy supported this permit. It was confirmed that the permit application complies with the existing Settlement Agreement between the Colony and the DEP. The Conservancy has confirmed that Public Access requirements to the waterfront are being met within The Colony. Public Access will be improved by this project as one of the proposed docks will be open to the public.

Bayonne – Duke Realty – The WDP application for large warehouses with no Walkway Construction and no Public Access was withdrawn by Duke Realty. This means that the DEP was going to reject it, so the applicant withdrew it instead. If the DEP had rejected it, the only avenue for the applicant would be to sue the DEP. By withdrawing the WDP application, Duke can make modifications and resubmit it again whenever they wish. The Conservancy objected to this plan by citing Public Access.
Weehawken – Weehawken Marina – The WDP for modifications and reopening of the defunct Weehawken marina were approved. The Walkway is complete in this area. Our only comments related to preventing Walkway closure during construction.

Bayonne – The Duke Realty WDP application to build a series of warehouses on the Kill van Kull without Public Access or a Walkway was officially published. We have received the relevant information from the DEP. The Conservancy is drafting a response to object to this permit application before July 17th.

Jersey City – Sims Metals operates a huge scrap metal processing in JC just south of Port Liberte’ across a water channel. They have applied to the DEP to dredge the channel. There is no Walkway or Public Access to this huge industrial site. The Conservancy will ask the DEP for the history of this site as the application in the Bulletin references an old WDP. This area and the area further south all the way to MOTBY in Bayonne is a major “no-man’s land” for the Walkway and Public Access. It includes a large Tropicana bottling site and the Greenville Yard railroad center. Someday it may be part of the Walkway but for now it remains the last large industrial area in operation on the Waterfront.
Weehawken – The WDP request to develop the Lincoln Harbor Marina has been officially published. We have already responded to the DEP on this application.

In Hoboken, the Town of Hoboken has requested a General Permit Approval to rebuild the Skate Park adjacent to the Union Dry Dock property that Hoboken is now developing into a park. This type of DEP permit covers all infrastructure projects and allows the applicant, Hoboken in this case, to do exploratory work on the property to scope the repair project. This will be the first phase of the multi-year development of the Union Dry Dock property.
In Jersey City, the DEP has applied for a WDP to rebuild and develop the area of Liberty State Park between the Marina and Audry Zapp Drive which includes the Train Station to include outdoor recreational attractions. This also is the first Phase of the major redevelopment of LSP.
The Conservancy has requested details on these two applications from the DEP.
